How things change

Today is our ninth wedding anniversary. We’ve had a really exciting day. (Although, as I think back on the day, I realise that the first  part of the day actually was a bit exciting as Sophie had a lie in until 6.45!) After the usual hunt for shoes and socks and bookbags, we survived the school run. We didn’t exchange cards because Ben hadn’t bought one yet as he had worked from home yesterday to help me with Imogen while I felt ill. We collected his car from the garage and then headed to Hastings. Sainsburys first, then a trip to get feet measured, buy new cricket spikes and whites and return library books ensued. We did have lunch at one of our favourite cafes, which is always nice.

Anyway, with that over-detailed explanation into a fairly mundane day, the first point of the day shows how much life has changed  in nine years. 6.45am was not a lie in when we got married. And the thought of a supermarket shop on our first or second anniversary would just not have happened. But we’ve been together for more than 15 years and I’m about two inches away from fitting into my dress again. Times change and so does life. But that doesn’t mean I’m not already wondering where we can go and what we can do next year…..
